Lexi walked around the grounds aimlessly. She knew that she shouldn't be here, but she didn't have a home so she had been forced to stay at Hogwarts year-round. It sucked at times, watching all of her friends leave. But in the end, the serenity was what she enjoyed most after everyone was gone. She sat underneath a tree by the lake, the sun setting just beyond the forest. She smiled a sad, lonely smile. So much was happening this year and her friends weren't going to come at this year, most likely.
She watched the sunset, wishing there was someone to talk to, to be around. But, alas, no one was here. Even most of the teachers had left. She looked down at the ground, plucking a blade of grass and holding it in front of her face. She thought of many things she could change it into and settled on a cat. A black cat. And it appeared. "Hello, Jinx," she whispered and the looked up at her, it's purple eyes glowing mysteriously. Lexi turned her own eyes, one blue and the other green, to look at the lake. A breeze picked up and made her wavy black hair tumble around her face. "Lonely as always, dear." She pet the cat absently and it stayed by her side like a dog would've. [/blockquote]

Kyle finished his last classes that day, and went to the train station to see everyone off. He waved, gave goodbye hugs, etc, and saw them all leave for the summer. Then, he walked back along the trail to the school. hands in his pockets. He whistled a tune as he approached the school, but looked around, and saw a girl sitting down by the lake, under a tree.
Well, I have nothing else to do He thought at he walked towards the lake. Once he got to her, he sat down by the tree also, looking out at the lake.
"Nice cat. What's her name?" He asked, and laughed a bit. He looked up at the sunset, but back down, swearing he saw something move in the lake, which made him laugh a little more.

Lexi looked over at him, wondering why he was laughing so much. I've never seen him around before, she thought. "Jinx. And you are?" she asked, a little guarded in her tone. Why is he here? I thought everyone had left, she thought, staring at the lake. She had decided to play with the water a bit and cast a quick spell to give her control over some of it. She made it sway one way then another, a dark shape formed underneath and she subconsciously remembered the mermaids. Sorry, she thought and let the spell go. She was good at mentally casting them now, though it was really against the rules of Hogwarts last time she had checked. Most everyone said their spells. [/blockquote]

"Nice. Mine's Kyle. Your turn." He said, smiling.
"Wow, it's even more beautiful than before I left.." He said to himself, still looking out to the lake.

((you give me nothing to work with ><)) Lexi raised an eyebrow before resuming to pet Jinx. "Yes, very beautiful. You should see it when summer is in full swing," she said. "Why are you here anyways? I thought everyone had left." Jinx meowed and jumped into his lap. "I think she likes you." Lexi looked up to his face and smiled slightly before looking away. Jinx didn't take to people so easily, she was usually just a one-person cat. He must be a cat person, she thought. [/blockquote]

"I have..." He said, smiling.
"Why? It's... a long story..." He said, suddenly a bit depressed, remembering the past few years, and his last girlfriend, Sally. He was so preoccupied with his thoughts that he didn't know Jinx lept into his lap. His expression lightened slightly.
"Well hello there, Jinx." He said, with a bit of a smile. he stroked the cat, feeling its soft fur against his hand.
"You still haven't given me your name." He said, and turned to her with a warming smile.

"Well we've got awhile for you to tell me, seeing as how there aren't any classes," she said with a slight laugh. She didn't laugh very often unless she was with her friends, then it seemed like she couldn't stop laughing. "My name is Lexi," she said finally, a little reluctantly but she said it nonetheless. She was a bit awkward around guys, she had never really understood why but she enjoyed hanging out with girls more. [/blockquote]

"It's nice to meet you, Lexi." He said, and turned back to the lake. He let out a sigh, and started trying to remember that far back.
"Well... it all started before I came to howarts. My parents mysteriously disappeared, leaving me to care for my little siblings, Kari and Xavier. When I was eleven, my aunt and uncle in Germany offered to take care of them so I could go to Hogwarts. I took their offer, and came. When I got here, I met a girl named Sally... in this exact spot, actually." He said, gesturing to the area around them.
"She wasn't perfect... she had quite a few problems of her own. Her parents had died, and left her to take care of Tyler, her little brother. Unlike me, no money was left to her, so she had a hard time finding shelter and food for Tyler and herself. Tyler actually lived with her in the Hufflepuff dorms." He said.
"Anyways, we soon became friends, and did everything together. We were together every day fo the next few months, us getting closer and closer to each other. We would constantly sneak out to Hogsmeade, or come out to this very spot. Tyler also grew on me..." He said, and let out a little laugh.
"As I said, she had problems of her own. I caught her on the ledge of the astronomy tower once, about to jump. I stopped her, luckily. One night, we were watching the sun rise when the newspaper came..." He said, and paused.
"It was that day I found my sister, Kari, had... died..." He said, and paused again. After a few moments, he continued.
"That week, I packed up my necessary things, gave Sally the keys to a house my parents left me, and left to Germany to visit my aunt, uncle, and Xavier. I was gone for three months, and came back, more matured. Bloody hell, Sally hardly even noticed me, I had gotten so tall. I even had 5'o clock shadow going on." He said, letting out a bit more of a laugh.
"Either way, we decided to go play with Tyler that day. We played hide-and-seek, and Tyler went missing. Sally found him at the bottom of this very lake, but passed out herself trying to save him. Luckily, I got there in time, and pulled them to shore just in time, because I passed out on the beach. Then, I got a vision. It was my parents... they were talking to me. They told me I needed to go find my... our prophecy." He said, forgetting it was Sally's too.
"Over the next few weeks, we spent out last few weeks here joyfully. The last night, we were out by the lake. On our way back, we... saw a figure at the... base of the astonomy tower..." He said, not wanting to remember this part.
"We got there... and Tyler had fallen off the tower... he was dead... I dug his grave myself, the old fashion way, with a shovel... It's near the forest." He said, grimly.
"We left soon after that, and went to the house I left Sally. I knew I must leave for the prophecy, so I was going to sneak out that night. Come to find out, she was leaving too. That's where we parted ways... then I went to the Ministry. I snuck in, and stole my prophecy... but was soon ambushed by death eaters. I barely made it out, but the prophecy wasn't as lucky. It was smashed, and nobody heard what it had to say." He said, remembering way back then.
"After a few months, I randomly met Sally in New York City. She had given up her life as a witch, and took up a normal job.. a normal life. I told her about what happened, and she didn't want to believe it. She said she couldn't come with me on the quest, so I left that night. Right after I left, a.. spirit, took her over. That very spirit was the spirit of Voldemort's son, Thomas Riddle Junoir... He, with control of Sally's body, gathered up the death eaters and took over the wizarding world.. as well as the muggle world." He said.
"I traveled the world, gathering a resistance. Finally... we marched on Tom's forces.. in the end, it was just the two of us, him still being in Sally's body. I was fueled by rage, and... lost the battle." He said.
"Sally attempted to take control, and succeeded, keeping him under control for a few minutes. She told me to... kill her. She said it had to be done, and I may never get another chance... I told her I loved her, and would never forget her, we kissed, then..." He said, and stopped abruptly.
"Then Tom started taking control again... and I killed him... Sadly, Sally was also killed in the fight..." He said, looking at his feet.
"After that, I visited Xavier again, and then came back here, to finish school at Hogwarts... after all, this IS my home..." He said, with a forced smile.
"This is sort of my new beginning." He said, and with his wand, drew little pictures in the dirt next to him, waited for a response.

Lexi listened silently. When he mentioned her older brother she tensed slightly, hoping he hadn't noticed. Her brother's death was her doing and she was lucky that he hadn't killed her, or that her father hadn't killed her. Instead she and her twin sister, Charlotte, escaped from their home and came to Hogwarts. "I'm sorry," she whispered. "I don't know what else to say." Jinx purred in his lap and rubbed against his hand a little. Lexi looked at her cat then looked toward the forest, wondering if there was a possibility of one of the Death Eaters ever finding out she existed. I doubt it, she thought, but still worried slightly. [/blockquote]

"Don't be. You didn't do anything." He said, with a bit of a smile. He petted the cat more as it purred.
"... Neither do I." He said, looking to where she was to see what she was looking at. When he saw nothing, he looked back to see the last bits of the sun falling behind the horizon.

Lexi sighed heavily and closed her eyes, leaning her head back against the tree. "You know. Sometimes I wonder how safe this school really is. I mean, if someone....bad was looking for you, would Hogwarts really be a good place to hide out in?" she wondered aloud but in a whisper. Jinx pounced onto her lap and put her paws on Lexi's chest. Lexi opened her eyes and looked into the cat's violet eyes. "I know. I know," she said with a smile and she pet the cat softly.

"I wouldn't worry. I've heard stories about this place. I've also heard that some of the school's secrets the headmaster doesn't even know. I've even looked into it, seeing as I still probably have people after me after my past..." He said, remembering all the research he did, and all the piles of books he had shifted through. He laughed a bit as the cat jumped onto her.

Lexi's mind flared in warning. "Researched the secrets, eh? Well, what kind of secrets did you research?" she asked carefully, hoping he didn't know about her. Her life would end if word got out she was Voldemort's daughter. I would be done for, she thought and at Jinx's meow, began petting the cat, hoping he didn't notice her hand was shaking slightly. "All of it I could find... all to no avail. I only found the basic stuff everyone knows, like how you can't apparate in or out of Hogwarts, etc." He said, and yawned.
"Why do you want to know? Hiding something from me?" He asked, jokingly, and laughed a bit.
