United We Stand is the name of the book I'm writing. Here's what I did for a school project on it. The first 3 paragraphs are the prologue, then the rest is to be the first chapter (1st chapter summarized, anyways.) This may be subject to change.

If you want a happy story, then stop reading now and put this book back wherever you found it. This book isn't for you.
This book is filled with gruesome and gory stuff, so if you have a problem with that, refer to the first sentence.
If you made it this far, then you must want to move on, regardless of the warning above. Good job. The first step of surviving a zombie apocalypse is facing your fears,
against all odds, especially if that fear is zombies. Well, onto the story.
Legend has it that in the future, something extreme will happen. An apocalypse of sorts. Nobody knew what it was at first, but years later, it became apparent what it was.
A zombie apocalypse. This story follows a young boy by the name of Will, and his part in this apocalypse.
A loud bang filled the cold air, and there was a lingering smell of gunpowder. Will lowered his pistol and put it in the holster at his side, then walked over to his target. He took off the protective earmuffs he was wearing, and examined the newest shot.
"Bulls-eye." He said and smirked.
Will unloaded his pistol and put everything away. He put them all in a backpack, and put them in his navy blue 1996 Pontiac Firebird. He then got in and pulled out of the gravel parking lot, and out onto the road. On the way home, he saw something limping up the road. Will squinted his eyes trying to see what it was. It was a person for sure, and it looked like he or she was hurt. He sped up to see if he could help.
When Will finally got close enough to see the man, he found that he was bent over another man. He jumped out of his car and got closer. The man's skin was rotted in places, and falling off as he spoke.
"Hey, are you alright?" He asked, curious to as of what happened.
The man turned around, and his face was covered in blood. He was eating the other man on the road. The other man had a huge gaping hole in his stomach, where blood was oozing out, and Will could see his insides. He stared in horror, then jumped into action. He ran back to his car, and got in. The man was limping towards the car and moaning. Will shifted into drive, and sped right into the man, hitting him and sending him flying up over his car and behind him. He grabbed a pistol out of the bag in the back of his car, and got back out. He saw the man lying on the ground, not moving. Suddenly, his hand twitched and he started to get up. He was moaning, and was soon up and started to limp towards Will.
"This thing isn't human..." He thought. It got closer, and when close enough, it tried to bite Will. He jumped back and help his gun at the zombie. He walked up to it, stuck the gun in it's mouth, and pulled the trigger. Blood splattered everywhere, and Will stared in horror. He ran back to his car, threw the pistol in the bag, and drove off home. He got home and burst through the front door to find his brother, Eric, watching TV, because he lived with him.
"Eric, we need to go. Now!"
