In order to contribute to more than 300 young people from vulnerable communities in Silao, Guanajuato and Huachinango, Puebla, having better opportunities to participate in economic activities, the United Nations Development Organization (UNDP) Program in Mexico , presented the Empodérate initiative which seeks to support projects developed by young entrepreneurs with funding.
And in labor matters in Mexico, CONEVAL says that 6 out of every 10 young people have informal jobs, 4 out of every 10 are in poverty and 50% of them have one income less than the welfare line.
Therefore, to change this reality, the France Mobile Number List UNDP is promoting this type of initiatives that seek to work with the business sector to create bridges that link economic development with vulnerable populations and those in conditions of exclusion.
Under this line, the UNDP is inviting society to support the more than 40 projects with high social impact developed by young people from marginalized areas with a fundraising campaign.
Some project topics are: health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, decent work, sustainable cities and communities, among others.
Empoderáte Initiative
Empodérate is an initiative that , through self-employment and entrepreneurship, strengthens the capacities of young people from communities in vulnerable situations so that they can participate in economic activities and increase their income in a sustainable way.
This initiative also seeks to help young people strengthen their socio-emotional skills, a situation that will allow them to improve their well-being and become agents of change in their communities.
According to the UNDP in a statement, with this initiative, entrepreneurs define a business model in two months, aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UNDP 2030 Agenda, which they test in the market and develop their socio-emotional skills to become agents of change.
“With the donations made through the platform, not only do the lives of entrepreneurs and their families change, they contribute to the local and national development of Mexico,” Lorenzo Jiménez de Luis, UNDP Resident Representative, said in a statement. in Mexico.
Young people will be able to present their business ideas, listen to the experience of social entrepreneurs, receive a talk about the importance of innovation, in addition to participating in activities to rehabilitate public spaces in the communities.
Afterwards, 100 young people will be selected with the most innovative business ideas, giving priority to women, the LGBT population and people with some type of disability.
